Screen Stockport Film Festival is one of the North West’s leading independent film festivals, providing a platform for film makers of all ages, backgrounds and experiences from around the world.
Held at Stockport’s historic Plaza super cinema, the festival has screened over 200 short films since it was launched in 2011.
Now into it’s fifth year, festival organiser Joe Barratt (who also runs The Teenage Market and Stockport Old Town initiatives) wanted to redesign the festival’s website to promote this years event as well as show off the work of the previous winners.
After chatting together at Seven Miles Out, Joe asked if I’d like to get involved on the coding side of things and we decided to team up.
Joe created the designs which I then developed into the functioning website, adapting the artwork to create a mobile responsive layout which fits nicely onto phones, tablets and larger screens. Ultimately, we created a bespoke WordPress theme which allowed Joe to easily manage the website content himself.
The website provides information for entrants on the various award categories for the festival, shows the films of previous winners as well as listing the profiles of the esteemed panel of judges past and present (including award winning director Carol Morley and the CEO of IMDB.com, Col Needham!!).
Screen Stockport is a fantastic event and I am incredibly proud to have been involved in supporting a great cause that is having such a positive impact on the Stockport community. You can visit the live site at www.ScreenStockport.co.uk.
If you are a film maker and would like to get involved, you can find out about the award categories and how to submit a film here. The big event is being held on Friday 16th October, 2015 at the Stockport Plaza super cinema. For more updates you can find Screen Stockport on both Facebook and Twitter.
